Directions
What are we making today?
Store bought tomato sauce (ketchup) is loaded with salt, sugar and food colouring. On the other hand, this recipe is healthy, delicious and simple to make.
Getting started
- Weigh or measure all the ingredients carefully.
Peel and cut the onion and garlic in smaller pieces.
Place everything in a small sauce pan and simmer over low heat for 5-10 minutes. Add a bit more water if too thick.
Place everything in a blender and pulse until smooth.
Done!
Annabelle's tip
Homemade Tomato Sauce obviously doesn't last as long in the fridge as store bought, due to the lack of preservatives. However, it will last in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a month.
Add some chilli flakes for a different dimension to your tomato sauce.
This recipe makes about 450 g (28-30 tablespoons).
