Ingredients
-
4 large pears
-
2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
-
1 tsp pure vanilla essence
-
½ tsp ground cinnamon
-
2 cinnamon sticks
Directions
What are we cooking today?
Baked pears fill the house with a divine smell, taste wonderful and only use 1 dish. The perfect dessert.
Getting started
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Grease a 23x33-cm (9x13-inch) baking tray.
Peel, halve and core the pears. Cut the stems also if desired.
Whisk together the vanilla, cinnamon, and melted butter in a bowl.
Glaze the mixture onto both sides of the pears.
Place the glazed pears in the greased baking tray, cut side down with the cinnamon sticks.
Per side, bake until fork-tender, about 25-30 minutes.
With the juices of the pan, baste them every 15 minutes.
Serve warm and with Greek yoghurt, frozen yogurt or our Chocolate Banana Ice-Cream, if desired.
Annabelle's tips
- For extra caramelisation, drizzle with coconut or avocado oil.
- To enhance the natural sweetness, sprinkle with coconut sugar and maple syrup.
- Leaving the stems attached adds an extra layer of elegance for the final presentation.
- If you're not a pear fan, you could replace them with Golden Delicious apples.
