Peel the banana and cut into small pieces.
Freeze for 1 or 2 hours on a plate lined with baking paper. This process makes it easier in the food processor which can struggle with large chunks of frozen banana.
Put the frozen banana into a food processor or blender and pulse until smooth.
When the mixture is smooth, add the cocoa powder and blend until incorporated.
For a soft ice cream, serve immediately.
For a firm chocolate banana ice-cream, transfer it back to the freezer for at least an hour.
For added texture, add roughly grated dark chocolate, either to the mixture or on top after served.
